Edward Neeman (Piano)

‘Heroic Masterworks’

The Australian-American pianist Edward Neeman has performed to great acclaim across five continents. Critics have lauded him as a “true artist” who “isn’t afraid to put a distinctive stamp on whatever he touches, without resorting to mannerism”, whose interpretations are “out of this world”. He has returned to Australia with a Doctor of Musical Arts from The Julliard School in New York, a slew of prizes in international piano competitions, and an interest in pushing the performative capacities of the piano.

This program will include major works by Beethoven, César Franck and Chopin that celebrate a sense of invincible heroism. Beethoven’s ‘Eroica Variations’ builds from a theme later used in his ‘Eroica’ Symphony Number 3. Franck’s ‘Prélude, Choral et Fugue’ is a major romantic masterwork in the piano repertoire. Chopin’s Heroic Polonaise has a triumphant grandeur in its main theme. Don’t miss this opportunity to be stirred and inspired by the magic of ten fingers in combination with a great musical talent.
