Back by popular demand, pianist Kristian Chong will partner with Simon Cobcroft, Associate Principal Cellist in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, in a delicious program of cello and piano sonatas. The cello was voted Australia’s favourite instrument in 2023 ABC Classic 100, universally loved for its mellow palette and emotional resonance. This program will feed your soul.
Simon brings impressive artistry and experience as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician performing across Australia, UK, Europe and Asia Pacific. Kristian in one of Australia’s finest pianists who has collaborated with some of music’s biggest names on the international stage.
The program will include sonatas for cello and piano by Beethoven, Barber, and Mendelssohn, all substantial chamber works. We will also be treated to Coehlo’s ‘Ice Monuments’, a piece composed for solo piano which won the Jury Prize Winner in ‘Composing the Future’ at the 2022 Sydney International Piano Competition.
